Amid the ongoing campaigning for the elections to the Municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be fighting an internal battle over its poll song. Just a few days back, party’s Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari released his song – Bhajpa Dil Mein – for the campaign.
However, as per a report in the Indian Express, the BJP had earlier approached singer Kailash Kher for composing and singing a song which was to be the official anthem for the polls. The party had even planned a big launch of the song, but it now in two minds.
Since Manoj Tiwari has already released a song for the party, the BJP feels that the launching a new one may undermine the status of the Delhi BJP chief. The BJP leadership also feels that such a decision might lead to rumours that all might not be well between him and senior party leaders.
As per the report, Kailash Kher’s song heaps praises for the Prime Minister and also has a mention of the party symbol, the lotus. A big launch for the song seems unlikely but it may see a “soft launch” with the party releasing it on social media in the days to come.
Kher says that he had been asked by the central BJP leadership to compose a song that on party’s slogan. Kher added that he sent the song to BJP on April 6 but has no knowledge of why his song has not been officially released. “I worked for two days in a row without sleep to record the song,” he said.
However, Tiwari said that the BJP received a proposal from Kher, but he had no information whether his song was recorded or not.
