Samajwadi Party supremo, Mulayam Singh Yadav on January 9 cleared the air saying opposed to what people believe, there is no problem between him and his son, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh yadav.
He added saying that there was indeed a problem in the party and the problem was happening only because of one particular person. However, he did not mention any name as to who is responsible for all the problem. It is being assumed that the jibe was made against Ram Gopal Yadav. Speaking about the confusion over who will get the party symbol, Mulayam said that it was for the Election Commission to decide.
Meanwhile, Ram Gopal Yadav refused to comment on Mulayam Singh’s statement.

Ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, the party stands divided into two camps, i.e. the Akhilesh and Mulayam camp. CM Akhilesh Yadav has challenged his father for the party symbol and the post of the party chief. Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier asserted that no changes have been made to the party posts. He stated that Akhilesh Yadav is still the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Shivpal Yadav is the state president of Samajwadi Party. Slamming his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav, Mulayam said that he had no right to do whatever he was doing.
Following Akhilesh camp’s claim, Mulayam asserted that he still remains the party chief and the national convention which named Akhilesh as the party chief was ‘illegal’.
On the other hand, Amar Singh slammed the Akhilesh faction who claimed to get “90 percent” signatures on the affidavit to claim the party’s Cycle symbol. Singh said, “The signatures of support are forged and hence their authenticity is doubtful.”
