In a remark that is bound to ruffle some feathers in opposition Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took a jibe at former prime minister Manmohan Singh saying, the former prime minister knows how to take a shower while wearing raincoat.
The Prime Minister jibe was targetted at rampant corruption during erstwhile UPA regime helmed by Manmohan Singh.
He was speaking during a debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s joint address to Parliament.
“Not a single corruption charge against Manmohan Singh that too during the most corrupt government. The art of taking bath wearing raincoat in bathroom can be learnt from Mr. Singh”, he said.
Reacting to it, the Congress members shouted at the treasury benches and staged a walk out. They were joined by members of some other opposition parties.
On the protest staged by the Congress PM said if they breach decorum, they should then have courage to listen. He also urged the opposition to join our fight against corruption.
While defending the demonetisation move PM said, just because there is inconvenience, does not mean we should reject it and we should not stay behind too as world is moving towards cashless, paperless economy.
Singh, was the Prime Minister for 10 years and headed UPA-I and UPA-II governments.
