Rahul Gandhi leads protest outside Parliament over MP E Ahamed’s death

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu asserted that the opposition is unnecessarily dragging the issue to some other direction and the Government is ready to answer as an when the opposition raises it in the house.

The first working day of this week witnessed another ruckus in the parliament after Congress MP K C Venugopal and Revolutionary Party MP N K Premchandran moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha over MP E Ahamed’s death just a day before the budget was set to be announced. The party members claimed that the reason they were staging a protest was due to the disrespect shown by the hospital towards E Ahamed and his family members.

Speaking to ANI, Premchandran said,”We have given an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha. The hospital staff showed grave disrespect and announcement of his death was delayed.”

While Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu asserted that the opposition is unnecessarily dragging the issue to some other direction and the Government is ready to answer as an when the opposition raises it in the house. “Government is ready to answer whenever the issue arises. The opposition is trying to politicise it. Doctors did their best; don’t understand what is the issue?” said Naidu.

Meanwhile, the MPs from Kerala staged a protest the Parliament premises over Ahamed’s death holding the placards with slogans written on them. They also covered their mouths with black cloth. Later, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also joined the protest.

On February 1, Sitting MP E Ahamed passed away after he suffered cardiac arrest during Parliament. There was high drama late in the night at government-run RML hospital with top Congress leaders visiting the hospital to enquire about former Union Minister E Ahamed’s health and alleging that his family was not being allowed to meet him. His mortal remains had been brought from the hospital.
