Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, terming the demonetisation move a scam and adding that the PM had informed his close friends before the announcement.
“Opposition parties are only demanding that PM should come and address the Parliament, why isn’t he coming?,” Rahul told reporters. “Why aren’t BJP MPs and leaders standing in queues for getting their currency notes exchanged,” the Congress scion added.
Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said when PM Modi believes he took the right step towards demonetisation, why was he scared. “I urge President to summon PM and ask him to take measures to solve the problems faced by people post-demonetisation move,” the former UP CM added further.
On the other hand, union minister M Venkaiah Naidu slammed the opposition for its criticism of the government, accusing it of not allowing the discussion to take place by disrupting both Houses of Parliament. “Poor people want demonetisation to be a success. They see PM as their messiah; opposition is overlooking public’s mood,” he added further.
