Shashi Tharoor lashes out at Arnab Goswami on Sunanda Pushkar report: 'Pathetic to see the depths to which some will sink to attract TRPs'

Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Shashi Tharoor, was found dead at a suite in a five star hotel in South Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.

Reacting to a TV channel’s report on the death of his wife Sunand Pushkar, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor termed it as “misrepresentations and outright lies”.

“Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations and outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist,” Tharoor had said in a Facebook post last night.

“I am angered that someone would exploit a human tragedy for personal gain and TRPs. I challenge him to prove his false claims in a court of law,” he had said.

Today the former UN diplomat took to Twitter to express his anger and in a series of tweets, wrote, “Came out to find dozens of cameras. Tried to say a few words to them but kept being interrupted by a cretin seeking to make the news, not report it.”

Angry over the TV channel’s report, he wrote: “Pathetic too see the depths to which some will sink to attract TRPs. I have nothing to hide from the police and the courts but nothing to say to such people.”

“A so-called journalist comes with an agenda to disrupt the rest of the media in order to create attention for his channel. Not interested in truth,” Shashi Tharoor added in his latest tweet.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead at a suite in a five star hotel in South Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014, a day after she had a spat on Twitter with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

On January 16, Pushkar had tweeted some material which hinted to a possible romantic liaison between Mr Tharoor and Tarar.

The autopsy report at that time had hinted that she had died of an overdose of sleeping pills.
