After getting appointed as the Culture Minister of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been given relief from the office of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for taking part in the television shows. The state Advocate General Atul Nanda has given his opinion that there is “no conflict of interest” in it. This matter was initially discussed by the CM himself seeking a suggestion whether Sidhu should continue his TV career or he surrender. But a statement from CM’s office cleared the speculations as it read,”As per the advocate general’s opinion, Sidhu ‘faces no legal bar in continuing with his work on the show”.
“There was no hindrance now to Sidhu’s continuation on TV shows, nor any need to change his Culture portfolio,” the statement read further.
On the other hand, Navjot Singh Sidhu took a dig on the opposition party, Akali Dal, and said,”My voters have no problem with my TV career. What I do after 7 pm is no body’s business. I can’t be a transporter like ex-deputy CM Sukhbir Badal.”
Later, in the evening on March 23, the Punjab Congress clarified the air and tweeted,”#Punjab advocate general finds no conflict of interest in @sherryontop #NavjotSinghSidhu TV shows, submits opinion to #CM @capt_amarinder.”

Navjot Singh Sidhu appears in the blockbuster TV show – The Kapil Sharma Show – which gets aired every Saturday and Sunday. Punjab’s newly elected CM Amarinder Singh has backed Sidhu and made it clear that there are no issues with his double duties. Navjot Singh Sidhu has been appointed as the culture minister of Punjab and has been given the portfolios of Cultural Affairs, Archives and Museums.
