Earlier this day, Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested on 3 January in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. He was initially questioned by the CBI and later taken in custody
Bandopadhyay is the second TMC MP to be arrested in the Rose Valley case. While visiting the CBI office for questioning, Sudip had claimed that it was only vendetta politics and that he was ready to face interrogation with honesty.
This comes just days after Bengali film actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Paul was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after he reached the CBI office in North 24 Parganas on December 30.
Soon after Bandopadhyay’s arrest, West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee called up an emergency meeting and critised PM Modi for this arrest and demonetisation. She said, “PM may arrest all of us but our protest against demonetisation will continue”. She also termed this arrest as “vendetta” politics.

Meanwhile, the BJP rejected TMC’s claims of vendetta politics and said that the arrest was just a process of the law.
