The state government of Tamil Nadu has asked the center to issue commemorative coin and special postal stamp for former chief minister MG Ramachandran on his birth centenary. “It would be a fitting tribute for him on his birthday,” added TN government.
In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TN chief minister O Pannerselvam described AIADMK founder as an “inspirational figure” who is known for his “commanding leadership, generosity, and his will to fight for the legitimate rights of the states”.
” On the occasion of birth centenary of Puratchi Thalaivar (Revolutionary Leader) Dr. MGR, it would be the best tribute to an inspiring icon and commanding leader, who resides in the hearts of the people of Tamil Nadu, to issue a commemorative coin and a special postal stamp,” he said.
This letter addressed to PM Modi was revealed by the TN state government on January 6. Pannerselvam also mentioned that issuing of commemorative coin and a special postal stamp would be welcomed and highly appreciated by all Tamil Nadu people, elsewhere in the nation and across the world.
