The OPS had stated that Panneerselvam had made no demands that he only wished to work together for the betterment of the state. “Both factions will talk to fulfil the aspirations of lakhs of party workers. This is our faction’s first victory that Sasikala and her family have been ousted from the party,” Panneerselvam told the media. D Jayakumar addressed a press conference and announced that bothe factions were in agreement and talks are on where they were considering the possibilities of retaining the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. The Election Commission of India had frozen the symbol. This comes after an FIR was lodged against Dinakaran for allegedly trying to bribe EC to retain the symbol.

The political situation has remained tense in Tamil Nadu since Jayalalithaa passed away in December. Sasikala took over the as the general secretary of AIADMK, while Panneerselvam took over as the TN CM. However, Panneerselvam resigned to make way for Sasikala only to claimed that he was forced to do so. Sasikala’s close aide E Palanisamy was appointed as the Chief mibister of the state after Sasikala was convicted and sent to the jail in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
