Twitter had some seriously funny things to say about Mukul Roy joining BJP

” Today a veteran public figure and politician of Bengal is joining BJP and we whole-heartedly welcome him” – BJP leader and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

No points for guessing who this veteran public figure and much respected politician is. Mukul Roy, who has for long been West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s right hand man has now officially entered BJP.

Mukul Roy was suspended from TMC for five years, following which he quit the party. He had reportedly fallen out with Mamata Banerjee because of  her nephew Abhishekh Banerjee’s increasing importance in the party.

The estranged former lieutenant of Mamata Banerjee is being investigated in the saradha chit fund scam. His name cropped up in Narada sting operation in which several top-notch TMC leaders were caught taking bribe.

While Roy’s entry is a shot in the arm for the BJP that is trying to gain foothold in Bengal, it is being seen as a huge dampner for Narendra Modi’s ‘na khayunga, na khane dunga’ policy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made it a point to bring up Narada and Saradha in every election rally during the Bengal Assembly Poll campaign. “Pehle Saradha, phir Narada,” this was favourite quip during the campaign.

Twitter as usual used its time to come up with some brutal comments on this political development.

There were some sharp political observations that came our way.

While others stuck to sarcasm and humour.
