Known for his controversial remarks, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan is at it again. Speaking at an event in Rampur on Tuesday, Khan claimed that women “dahshatgardon” (terrorists) are cutting off private parts of Army men because they have complaints against them and also to send across a “strong message” to them. He also added that India should feel ashamed for the same.
Referring to “shameful violent happenings” in places such as Kashmir, Tripura, Jharkhand and Bengal, Khan said excesses by security forces had led to “women in some places chopping off the private parts of Army men”.
A video clip of his speech is doing the rounds of social media in which he can be heard saying: “Hathyar-band auraton ne fauj ko mara aur lashon se jo jism ka hissa kaat kar le kar gayi, woh Hindustan ki ek asal zindagi ka parda uthati hai. Kahin log faujiyon ka, yah behgunahon ka sar kaatate hain, kahin haath kaat ke le jate hain… Lekin is mauke par, mahila dahshatgardon ne fauj ke private parts ko kaat kar saath le gayin… Unhe haath se shikayat nahin thi, sar se nahin thi, pair se shikayat nahin… Jism ke jis hisse se shikayat thi, usey kaat ke le gayin (Armed women killed security personnel, and body parts that they chopped off reveal the real life of India. Some people cut off heads or hands of soldiers or the innocent. But these women terrorists cut off the private parts of security personnel and took it with them. They had no complaint against their hands, heads or legs, they took the parts against which they had a complaint),” he said.

Defending himself, Khan said was just stating the facts which he had seen in the newspapers. Hitting out at the ruling Central government, he also claimed that “those ruling the country want to adopt the route of bullet rather than the ballot.”
In April, when 25 CRPF personnel were killed in a Maoist attack in Burkapal, there were suspicions that private parts of the soldiers had been mutilated. However, Maoists had issued an audio press release claiming that such allegations were baseless.

Hitting out at Khan, the BJP said that the SP should “sack” him for attempting to “divide the country” on religious lines. “It has become a fashion in the country to demean the Indian Army in the name of freedom of speech and expression,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
