Yogi Adityanath is the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh

After the BJP's historic win in UP, the announcement for the coveted post of state Chief Minister was much awaited.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath has been sworn in as the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. The decision to appoint the Gorakhpur MP as the leader of the legislature party was taken during a crucial meet of BJP MLAs in Lucknow.

Name of Adityanath was suggested by BJP leader Suresh Khanna and it was supported by Minister of Information and Broadcasting, M. Venkaiah Naidu. Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma are appointed as the deputy Chief Ministers of the state.

The announcement finally ends the intense round of speculation over the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Political circle was abuzz with probable names of  state party chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and telecom minister Manoj Sinha, Yogi Adityanath and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

After the BJP’s historic win in UP, the announcement for the coveted post of state Chief Minister was much awaited. The party is back in the state after 15 long years by winning 312 seats in the recently held elections.

The jubilant BJP leaders have claimed the verdict has proved that the party has been able to break the caste barriers in the state and are all praises for party chief Amit Shah, who was the main strategist in the UP polls.
