Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him a “weak PM.” He put out pictures of news reports one of which had the headline: “H-1B didn’t figure in Modi-Trump talks” and the other was “MEA accepts US use of ‘administered Kashmir.” His comment did not go down well on Twitter with people reminding him Manmohan Singh, the former prime minister in Congress-led UPA government. On several instances, Manmohan was criticised for having acted on the instructions of the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi while he held the office of the Prime Minister.
Rahul Gandhi’s comment comes at a time when the Prime Minister is in Isreal on a 3-day visit. His visit is being termed historic as he is the first PM to have visited Isreal. He was accorded a historic reception when he landed in Israel. His visit to Isreal is aimed at commemorating the establishment of 25 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. During the trip, there will be discussions between him and his Israeli counterpart Netanyahu to find out ways to enhance cooperation in key strategic areas. The Prime Minister will also be meeting Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday.

The United States had in a statement on June 26, called Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief Syed Salahuddin a “global terrorist” and termed Kashmir as “Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir”. Under criticism for the statement by the US, the Central government defended its stand saying that the term used by the US only affirmed India’s position that Salahuddin is involved in “cross-border” terrorism.
