Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to make a statement in Parliament on Thursday over the killing of a suspected ISIS terrorist in Lucknow and blast in a train at Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh. The second half of the Budget session will begin on Thursday.
The Home Minister is expected to make a detailed statement in Parliament on the two incidents in Lucknow and in Shajapur, official sources said. The suspected ISIS terrorist was killed in a house on the outskirts of Lucknow early on Tuesday after a 12-hour long operation. The terror suspect Saifullah was killed in an exchange of fire with the police.
The terror suspect Saifullah is suspected to be linked to the blast in the train in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, police said. Ten people were injured, three of them seriously, in the IED blast in Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train at Shajapur.
The anti-terror operation was being monitored by senior officials. The slain terrorist belongs to the Khurasan module of the ISIS and was an active member. But, whether he has been indoctrinated or not is a matter of investigation. ATS officials also said that the commandoes saw a wire wrapped around the stomach of the slain terrorist.
One pistol, revolver, knife, and ammunition have been recovered from the terrorist.
Meanwhile, two suspected terrorists have been arrested from Kanpur and the neighbouring Unnao were on Wednesday taken to Lucknow by a team of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad for further questioning. Searches are also underway for nabbing other terror suspects.
