Amid countrywide outrage over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl from Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua, industrialist Anand Mahindra has vented his ire in an unusually sharp tweet.
The Mahindra Group CEO offered to volunteer for the job of executioner if the convicts are ‘brutal rapists & murderers of young girls’.
The job of executioner is not an aspirational job. But for the execution of brutal rapists & murderers of young girls I would volunteer unhesitatingly. I work hard to stay calm, but my blood boils over to see this happen in our country.. https://t.co/1VXD5QfYKA

The body of the unidentified girl was found in Bhestan locality in Surat and her autopsy report said there were 86 injury marks on her body, including the private parts, indicating that she was tortured and raped.
India is witnessing a nationwide protest over recent instances of rape of minor girls. The rape of 8-year-old girl from Kathua turned out to be a tipping point with people across the country taking to streets to express their anger-reminiscent of the nationwide protests in 2012 after the brutal gang-rape of paramedical student Nirbhaya in 2012.
