After announcing ‘free’ feature phones, Reliance Jio is reportedly planning to offer free Wi-Fi to almost three crore college students in India. The company has also submitted a proposal to the human resource development (HRD) ministry as well.
According to a report in Factskeeper.com, apart from providing free Wi-Fi, Reliance Jio also aims to provide educational resources such as an online course. According to a report, a proposal was received by the ministry in which Reliance Jio expressed a desire to connect close to 38,000 colleges (technical and non-technical) under the HRD ministry across India by deploying free Wi-Fi connectivity.
The list of colleges under this scheme will be from Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia University and others.

“Through this free access to Wi-Fi, all students will be able to get an internet connection and use educational resources such as online courses available on SWAYAM platform through the National Knowledge Network. The company plans to create hotspots for this,” said an official, according to the report.
Reliance Jio is soon going to launch its mobile which will be available for free to every citizen of India at the payment of 1500 which will be refunded by them in 36 months. Earlier the company had given free internet for all the 4G mobile users.
