Amid the ongoing unrest in the Samajwadi Party’s first family, several reports had held Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife Sadhna as one of the reasons for the upheaval. It is being said that Akhilesh Yadav has been humiliated to bring Mulayam and Sadhna’s son Prateek into the limelight.
However, a report in ‘India Samvad’ has quoted some CBI documents which claim that Prateek is not Mulayam and Sadhna’s son. Sadhna is Mulayam’s second wife. There are no details of when the two got married as they had hidden it from everyone.
Sadhna Singh married Chandraprakash on July 4, 1986. She gave birth to Prateek in 1988. But within two years of their marriage, the couple got divorced due to conflicts.

Sadhna was a member of the Samajwadi Party and that is where she met Mulayam. The two grew close and secretly married. It was only after the death of his first wife in 2003 that he made his relationship with Sadhna public.
The CBI documents came to the fore during an investigation into the alleged accumulation of disproportionate asset by the SP supremo and his family.
When CBI checked Prateek’s school records, it was found that in the official documents in 1994, Mulayam’s government-owned residential address has been listed. While Sadhna’s name has been filled in the mother’s name column, Mulayam’s name was not mentioned in the documents.
