Watch: BJP MLA’s husband slaps cop over traffic challan in Kota

Police was forced to use batons on the agitating BJP workers who had resorted to stone pelting.

A BJP lawmaker’s husband allegedly slapped a police officer over the issuance of a traffic challan to a party worker. Narendra Meghwal, the husband of MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal, barged into the Mahaveer Nagar police station of Kota along with a group of BJP Yuva Morcha workers and allegedly thrashed the police official. Meghwal has been captured on camera arguing with cops. The argument later denigrated into a full-fledged brawl. Police was forced to use batons on the agitating workers who had resorted to stone pelting.

A complaint has been filed against Meghwal and half a dozen party workers. In the evening, MLA Chandrakanta announced that she would march towards Mahaveer Nagar police station to protest against the incident.

The Kota MLA alleges that it was her husband and party workers who were detained and attacked. “No police station should have such cops. They attacked us and many of the workers are in the hospital,” she told reporters.

She also alleged that her sari was torn and bangles were broken in the brawl. According to the report, four cops including an officer who was slapped have been transferred, an NDTV report said.

“A police personnel was allegedly manhandled and thrashed, but denied reports of detention of the MLA and other BJP leaders,” SHO of Mahaveernagar Police Station Ram Basaida told PTI.
