Tension continued to prevail in Kerala after Sabarimala temple was opened to the public. Since the Supreme Court lifted the ban on the entry of women inside the shrine for the first time, many protesters indulged in violence. Several women journalists who were present at the site were attacked by protesting mobs.
On Thursday, NYT journalist Suhasini Raj and her colleague who were on their way to the shrine were stopped midway by angry protestors. They were then escorted back to safety by the police. The incident comes a day after many media personnel were subject to attacks by violent mobs. Some of the journalists include Saritha S Balan of The News Minute, Mousami Singh of India Today, Pooja Prasanna of Republic TV, Radhika Ramaswamy of CNN-News18, Sneha Mary Koshy of NDTV were some of those who were attacked.
