Sasikala convicted in disproportionate assets case: The apex court has awarded a jail term of 4 years and slapped a fine of Rs 10 crore.

After the Supreme Court verdict convicting VK Sasikala in the disproportionate asset case, the AIADMK general secretary reacted emotionally saying like Amma she has also suffered in the past and and again she will take the ruling upon herself.

“In the past whenever Amma was in crisis, I also suffered this time also I will take it upon me. ‘Dharma’ will win,” AIADMK quoted Sasikala as saying.

The apex court has awarded a jail term of 4 years and slapped a fine of Rs 10 crore. The SC conviction has shattered her hopes of becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Supreme Court has ordered Sasikala to serve rest of her jail sentence of three years and six months as she has already served almost six months in jail.

The SC ruling bars Sasikala from becoming the new chief minister as she can not contest elections for 10 years.

Yesterday, while addressing the party MLAs Sasikala had said that she had gone to the jail earlier and had no qualms going back to the jail again.

The apex court’s ruling has temporarily put an end to the week long power tussle over the seat of chief minister between the AIADMK general secretary and acting chief minister O Peneerselvam.

OPS can now be invited by the governor to prove he has the support of the majority.
