At the age of 47, actor Ajith Kumar is taking a road less-travelled.
The actor, known for his action-packed Tollywood films has recently collaborated with the iconic Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). As the ‘Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Adviser’, Ajith will first assist the MIT students in building an advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for a global challenge. The project is a part of the Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge, whose final round will be held at Queensland, Australia in September 2018.

The actor who has earned a lot of fame thanks to the Tollywood industry has delivered hits like Mankatha, Kandukondain Kandukondain and many more. But films were not the superstars first choice, he had a fascination for aero-modelling and building remote-controlled vehicles. Also very few know that he is a licensed pilot. Hence, it is no surprise that he was ready to accept the offer for a nominal Rs 1000/visit. Yes, that is the amount the actor will receive for his due assistance in building the drone. The large-hearted actor also asked the money to be collected and used for students who have difficulties in paying the monthly school fees.
MIT’s Team Dhaksha will use Ajith’s expertise to develop and build the drone for one of the most challenging unmanned vehicles that demonstrate the use of robotic aircraft for medical sample retrieval and medical delivery.
The Twitter was spontaneous in lauding the actor.
#ThalaAjith once again takes the road less travelled. #Ajith will devote his spare time to launching Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). He will be #MIT‘s “Helicopter Test Pilot & UAV System Adviser” on a salary of RS 1000 per visit. __
