The controversial Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan, 68, ran into another problem for his comment on Bulandshahr rape case. The Supreme Court (SC) directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to serve him notice for not appearing before the court. The CBI will serve a notice to Khan to explain his comments.
The apex court said Azam Khan should have deputed a lawyer for his comments on the teen rape-case. The court stopped investigations last month to inspect whether his comments violated right to free speech.
A woman and her teen daughter were raped in the fields near a major highway. Azam Khan commented on the rape case as a political conspiracy. The apex court said that Azam khan made the comments his personal capacity.
Las month, the SC said it will inspect the comment and check whether such comments from a person who is holding a public office can create distress among the victims. It also said to monitor if the comment “defeats constitutional sensitivity” and fare probe into the case.
In the rape case, the men of the family were tied up while the accused raped the teen girl and her mother.
