Seniors tortured me, CRPF jawan writes to Rajnath Singh. Will the government act?

A CRPF jawan has now come out to allege that his senior officials tortured him and have also written a letter to Rajnath Singh.

Days after BSF jawan uploaded videos highlighting the problems faced by the jawans at the border, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has now written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and have alleged that he was tortured by the senior officials.

The jawan has been identified as Sanjeev Ranjan Singh, and is from the 159th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force in the Gaya district of Bihar. According to a report in Hindustan Times, in his complaint Singh alleged that the senior officials did not pay heed to his request to be transferred to Ranga Reddy district in Telangana. He claimed that he was not even allowed to meet his ailing wife, son and mother.

Sanjeev Ranjan Singh further alleged that his mother, son and wife passed away due to illness and he could was unable to meet them because of his busy schedule. Meanwhile, the CRPF has refuted all the allegations and have claimed that Sanjeev never went to them with his complaint.

This comes days after a number of Jawans went on to post a series of videos online to show the hardships they face, the army had set up a WhatsApp number for its soldiers to share their problems directly with General Bipin Rawat instead to going to social media.

BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav’s wife had also recently claimed that her husband was forced to retire and arrested soon after he posted a series of videos online to expose the hardships the jawans face on the border. His wife further claimed that her husband called her up using someone else’s phone to tell her that he was arrested and was being mentally tortured.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had come out and said that he will investigate the matter if needed. He further stated that the jawans should go with their grievances directly to him instead of using social media.

Tej Bahadur, who claimed to be from the 29th battalion of the Border Security Force in Jammu and Kashmir, had in a series of videos said that the government has been doing enough to provide the security forces with essential items, but it is the BSF officials who are indulged in the wrong doings. However, the BSF refuted all the allegations and claimed that the soldier was just a “habitual offender”.
