Shashi Tharoor tweets in Hindi on World Hindi Day, gets schooled for grammatical error

When Tharoor decided to tweet in Hindi, the ever so observant Twitter brigade caught him on the wrong foot

Unless you are living under a rock, you must have heard of Shashi Tharoor’s exceptional command over the English language.

The Congress MP’s eloquence, which is also reflected in his tweets, continues to befuddle the social media users.

From farrago to snollygoster to rodomontade, the 61-year old’s mind-boggling vocabulary made us sit with a dictionary while scrolling his Twitter timeline.

However, when Mr Tharoor decided to tweet in Hindi, the ever so observant Twitter brigade caught him on the wrong foot.

On the occassion of Hindi Diwas, Tharoor Tweeted

Tharoor mistakenly wrote ‘Mere’ instead of ‘Meri’ and ‘world’ instead of ‘vishwa’

This was enough for Tweeples to poke fun at the Congress leader

Tharoor’s opposition to making Hindi an official language at the UN is well known.

Last week, Tharoor and External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj locked horns in Lok Sabha over making Hindi an official language at the United Nations.

Questioning the need to push Hindi at UN, Tharoor said, “Hindi is not the national language, it is an official language” adding that there was no need to impose the language on future leaders who may represent non-Hindi speaking states.

However, some Twitter users also lauded his gesture
