In an unprecedented move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), today announced the name of Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) presidential candidate. The move came as a surprise to many, as earlier there were reports that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was the choice of many leaders for the presidential post.
Amid discussions over the presidential candidate and Opposition’s stance over it, former President Pratibha Patil spoke on the decision, and in an interview to NDTV, she expressed her ‘disappointment’ and said that she was expecting a youth or consensus candidate.
After she expressed her thoughts, social media users ‘took it as an offence’ and began trolling Pratibha Patil. The users questioned her as to why she has a problem with an old candidate, as she was also old when the Congress had nominated her for the post of the President of India.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted to the former Indian president’s comment:
Ha Ha? By the Madam what was your age on the D day

Earlier, Pratibha Patilwas in news after she said that former Union Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar should not decline the Opposition parties’ offer and run for presidency.
“There are reports of Pawar being offered, by all the Opposition parties, the candidature for President post. He has been declining it. He has not sought my suggestion, so I can only give my opinion. I think he should not decline the offer,” Patil had said.
