The Indian meteorological department on Saturday issued heavy snow warning for next 72 hours for Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahual Spiti and parts of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh.
“There are chances of heavy snowfall at isolated places in mid and high hills from January 15 to 16,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh said.
Most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Dalhousie and Manali are likely to have light to moderate spells of snowfall, he said.

Meanwhile, according to IANS, nine deaths were reported so far from Uttar Pradesh as a severe cold wave gripped northern India with Himachal Pradesh’s Keylong and Jammu and Kashmir’s Kargil registering minus 13.9 and minus 15.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, while the national capital here recorded its lowest temperature of the season.
Delhi on Saturday recorded its lowest temperature of the season with the mercury dipping to 3.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average, a weather official said.
