In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old student was raped in Hauz Khas area of New Delhi on February 18. However, the entire case is still unclear. The victim girl has also lodged a complaint to the police which states that she was waiting for a cab when two unknown men allegedly approached her. She was not alone but accompanied by her cousin sister. Further, the complaint said that the incident took place at around 11:30 pm in the night.
The student reported the crime to the personnel at a police picket near the park. The report further said that a sketch of the suspect’s face has been prepared based on the student’s description. Footage caught on CCTV also shows the accused’s friend chatting with the student’s cousin.

As reported by a leading daily, the police has registered the case under IPC section 376 (rape) and the investigation has been started on the basis of the inputs obtained from the student. The daily also quoted the Delhi Police spokesperson, Dependra Pathak as saying,”The police have registered a case immediately, an investigation is on. We are working on leads available.”
News agency PTI reported that the accused who approached the girl hails from Manipur. He offered the victim a lift to home. The man took the victim to an isolated and lone place inside a nearby park where he raped her. The report further stated that both the victim and accused jumped off the park wall as the man lured the girl to show a dry lake inside the park. The police have also taken several suspects under custody.
