On June 26, Muslims across India celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with great fervour, marking the end of holy month of Ramadan. The month is observed as a fasting period by Muslims all across the globe. During this time, they abstain from food and water from 30 minutes before the sunrise to sunset.
On the occasion of Eid, the social media space was buzzing with people wishing each other Eid Mubarak, and the heartening aspect was that the wishes came from across communities, and not only Muslims.
Among many positive stories being shared online to promote communal harmony, a video of some policemen caught attention of many users. In the video, the policemen on duty next to a bunch of Muslims offering their Eid namaz can be seen helping those praying by making sure their mats stay in place and there is no disruption in their prayers.
After the video was uploaded on Facebook, people on social media have been praising the policemen for their sensitivity and positive actions. Within less than a day the video has garnered more than half-a-million views and close to 17,200 shares.
