Sukma Naxal attack: One jawan recently got married, one had his family dependent on him

A family member of Krishna Kumar Das said we don't know how to console his young widow

While the nation is still mourning the death of 25 CRPF officials who were killed by Maoists in the Sukma area of Chhattisgarh on Monday the loss that the parents of jawans are going through is unimaginable. Out of 25 jawans killed, three were from west Bengal and one of them had recently got married.

In a report published in The Indian Express, mother of constable Binoy Chandra Burman, Fulo Burman is inconsolable, “Neither his mother nor his wife is in a position to speak. His father has been ill for some time,” said Parimal Burman, his brother-in-law. Binoy Chandra was from Atharanala village in Cooch Behar.

Sub-inspector Krishna Kumar Das who belonged to Bakutala had recently got married, a family member of Das said, “We don’t know how to console his young widow. It’s not even a month ago that they got married”.

The family of Constable Arup Karmakar of Abhaypur, Nadia had become financially secured after he joined CRPF. His mother wanted him to tie the knot soon. Elder brother of Arup Karmakar said, “I got the news yesterday but couldn’t gather the courage to break it to my mother. She came to know of it today after relatives started coming in. She has been inconsolable.”

On April 24, as many as 25 CRPF officials of 74 battalion were killed nd six of them sustain injuries in an encounter with the Naxals in Chattisgarh area of Sukma.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was in Cooch Behar paid a visit to Krishna Kumar Das’s family promised the job to a family member of all the three families and also announced the ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to all the three families.
