After months of agitation and unrest, glamor has finally made its return to the Kashmir valley. Bollywood actress Sunny Leone along with husband Daniel Weber recently arrived in Gulmarg for the shoot of an ad-film.
Sunny who recently made an appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees took to twitter and posted pictures with hubby in the snow-clad mountains. The Laila of B-Town arrived at the Srinagar international Airport on February 5 and drove uphill to Gondola, where a mega Snow Carnival, is being hosted by the state government. She was seen shooting on the Apharwet slopes of the ski resort, which has risen hopes for the revival of the tourism industry in the restive region.
The next morning, after taking some more shots for the commercial, Sunny opted for joyrides down the ski slopes.
The government kept her visit a “tight secret of highest order”. Gulmarg Police is usually informed well in advance about the arrival of special guests at the resort. But in this case, the concerned police officers had a pleasant surprise in store for them. Sources say Sunny and the crew was given “a secret security cover.”
While Sunny’s visit was being kept under the veils, the onlookers couldn’t fail to recognize the charming face they have relished watching on the silver screen for years. The news of her presence in Kashmir spread like a wildfire.
On the afternoon of February 6, Sunny left for Srinagar where she spent some good moments in the famed Dal lake and opted for shopping on the iconic Boulevard, before concluding her visit.
The government looks extra cautious in taking media into confidence for the promotion of such developments to avoid controversies. Recently when Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti inaugurated the Snow Carnival in presence of celebrities like Javed Jaffery, the media personnel including photojournalists were kept away from the event, something which the journalist fraternity formally condemned later.
Meanwhile Sunny, who shared several pictures of her visit on social media tweeted:
“Such a great trip to Kashmir! One of my favourites so far. Wish we could have stayed longer! @DanielWeber99.”
J&K Govt’s Media Analyst, Javid Trali welcomed this development and responded:
“Welcome. Great to see @SunnyLeone & @DanielWeber99 in Kashmir. Looking forward for their more visits here.”
Kashmir has been a longtime favorite locale for Bollywood. Though eruption of militancy had hindered prospective shootings for the past decade, the B-Town has rediscovered its love for the Valley with stars like Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone making frequent visits for their shootings. We hope that more of such visits come in the future and rekindle Bollywood’s relationship with the valley.
