Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, saying that those supporting terrorists must be made to pay for their actions. “There must be a cost for those who support terrorists and make false distinction between good and bad terrorists,” she said while addressing BRICS Media Forum. “BRICS Summit saw a growing recognition that there cannot be business as usual when it comes to dealing with terrorism,” she added further.
The minister’s comments on Pakistan comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a scathing attack on the neighbouring country, calling it a ‘mothership of terrorism’. However, China soon rushed into Pakistan’s defence, calling it a victim of terrorism and claiming that its ally made a lot of sacrifice to eliminate terror from the soil.
Tensions between India and Pakistan are at an all-time high since the September 18 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri town, which left 19 soldiers dead. In retaliation, the Indian Army carried out a surgical strike on seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control in the wee hours of September 29.
