Sushma Swaraj does it again, offers help to infant born with heart disease in Bhopal

Sushma Swaraj, who herself had undergone a kidney transplant operation in December, offered the family of two-day-old infant to organise a surgery at AIIMS

And she does it yet again. A noble samaritan as she is, the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj—having already created a name by reaching out to Indians stranded across the world through social media—took to Twitter to offer help to a two-day-old infant who was born with a heart disease in Bhopal.

The baby, who was born to Devesh and Vandana Sharma on January 23, was diagnosed with a critical congenital heart disease.

When Devesh learned that the doctors in the city didn’t have the facilities to conduct an operation on his newly-born son, he was greatly disappointed. Finally, seeing no other option, he sought help from the government.

In a Twitter post, he tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda and shared the photo of his baby suffering from the heart ailment.

Meanwhile, Sushma Swaraj, who herself had undergone a kidney transplant operation in December, asked for Sharma’s phone number so that her staff could contact.

“We contacted the family and got the medical reports through my Bhopal office. Dr.Balram Airan Head Cardiac surgery AIIMS advises an early surgery,” read the External Affairs Minister’s tweet. “We can organise the baby’s surgery in AIIMS Delhi. The family has to decide (sic).”

We couldn’t be more proud of the empathy that Ms Swaraj holds for her countrymen.
