The wounded jawans were rushed to a hospital. Of those injured, two of the jawans are in critical condition. The incident took place is near the Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore. It is barely five km away from Srinagar district.

This is the same location where terrorists engaged with the army had in a three-day stand-off in February last year resulting in the death of four terrorists and a civilian.

“Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to conduct searches. The injured are being shifted to hospital. Further details are awaited,” an officer said.

The incident comes a day after a police constable was killed and 11 other security personnel were injured on Sunday evening in Srinagar’s Nowhatta area. Militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen had claimed responsibility for this attack.

It was only yesterday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jammu and Kashmir and inaugurated the country’s longest tunnel and also addressed a rally in Udhampur.
