Two schoolboys in Telangana’s Jagtiyal town were burnt alive on Sunday evening after discovering that they loved the same girl, an IANS report said.
Police is yet to conclude if the incident was a suicide or murder.
However, multiple versions of the incident confirm that the realization of dating the same girl must have resulted in the gruesome incident.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the two Class 10 boys went to a deserted place near the town’s Mission Compound area at around 7.30 pm. Police said the boys drank beer before dousing themselves with petrol which they had brought with them and set themselves ablaze.
On hearing the cries of boys, the locals rushed to the spot and took them to a hospital. However, one of the kids died on way while the other succumbed to his burns late in the night, the HT report added.
“Preliminary inquiries revealed that a love affair with a common girlfriend could be the reason for the incident. The family members also suspected involvement of a third person in the incident,”Jaigtyial town circle police inspector Prakash said.
IANS reported the girl in question was studying in the same school where the two boys were enrolled.
While police is still investigating the incident, the family members of the deceased boys have claimed that a third person was also present at the scene when the incident took place.
