The Indian army has launched a huge anti-terror operation in the Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir. Here's what the Army Chief General said

In the wake of recent terror attacks along the Line of Control (LoC) in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has asserted that the Indian army has launched a massive combing operation in Shopian district as the terrorists are making an attempt to infiltrate as the snow melts.

“Terrorists are going to attempt infiltration, snows are melting, summer months started so like each year infiltration will commence,” Bipin Rawat told the reporters adding that they were making efforts to get the situation under control. He further stated that the anti-terror operation comes in the backdrop of several terror attacks and bank loot incidents in the state.

“Banks have been looted, policemen have been killed. That is why today’s combing operation is taking place. Today’s combing operation is to make sure that situation is brought under control, post recent incidents,” he said.

As many as two dozen villages in Shopian district have been cleared as the Indian Army along with other security forces launched a combing operation today. This comes after a video showing terrorists roaming freely in the area surfaced. Earlier this week, gunmen even went on to loot Rs 5 lakh from a bank in J&K. Apart from bank loot, weapon snatching and barging into several policemen’s house has been on the rise in the state.
