With the release of the much-hyped Tamil film 2.0, Rajinikanth fever has already gripped the country. The film, a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 540 crore. Directed by Shankar, 2.0 also stars Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in a negative role and the supporting cast includes Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Panday. The film’s music is composed by veteran AR Rahman.
The film will release around 10,000 screens worldwide, along with 6,600-6,800 screens in India. It will break the record of Baahubali 2 which had released in about 6,500 domestic screens and 9,000 screens across the world.
Just like it happens every time a Rajini film is released in India, fans have taken over all the places and all the celebratory rituals have begun. They are queuing the theatres and dancing on the streets to express love and adulation for their Thalaivar.
In Chennai, the first show started at 4 am and excited fans dressed in 2.0 merchandise were seen bursting firecrackers. As a customary ritual, a huge cardboard cut of Rajinikanth was bathed in milk. In Mumbai’s Wadala, a Rajini Rath Yatra was organised where a procession with shehnais was taken out on the streets, reports The Indian Express.
Meanwhile, a Coimbatore-based private company announced a holiday for its employees on Thursday so that they could catch the film in theatre on its day one. In a letter addressed to its employees, the company also assured that it will also sponsor the cost of tickets for all its employees, reports Business Today.
