Theft at Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s house, Nobel Prize stolen

In a shocking incident, a theft has taken place in Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s Delhi home on February 7 and the thieves has taken away a number of things from his house including his Nobel Prize that was awarded to him in 2014.

According to reports, Kailash Satyarthi was not present is currently in the US.The incident took place in the wee hours of February 7 when the burglars broke into the Greater Kailash’s Aravali Apartments in Delhi. The police have rushed to the spot and an investigation has been launched.

The police have registered an FIR under section 380 (house theft) of the IPC in Kalkaji Police station in Delhi. Forensic teams have also reached the spot and are currently collecting evidences including the fingerprints of the suspects. The security officials have launched a manhunt and are currently making efforts to nab the accused.

Kailash Satyarthi who is an Indian Child Rights activist shared his Nobel Prize with Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan. Kailash Satyarthi of India and Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan received the Nobel Peace Prize for 2014 for their pioneering work on promoting child rights in the subcontinent, as they made an impassioned plea to globalise compassion. Satyarthi, had given up his job as an electrical engineer to run an NGO for rescuing children from forced labour and trafficking.

Satyarthi’s NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save Childhood Movement) has saved over 80,000 children from bonded labour in factories and workshops across India. They also shared the prize money of $1.1 million.
