Five Indian-origin persons have been included in Fortune’s annual list of 40 young and influential people in the field of business. 39-year-old French President Emmanuel Macron tops the Fortune’s 2017 ‘40 Under 40’ list. ‘France’s youngest leader since Napoleon’, Emmanuel Macron won the presidential elections in May.
Fortune’s 2017 ‘40 Under 40’ list is an annual ranking of the most influential young people in the field of business. The magazine terms under 40 achievers as “disruptors, innovators, rebels, and artists”.
The Indian-origin persons who are included in the list are 26-year-old Divya Nag, Rishi Shah, Shradha Agarwal, Leila Janah, and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

Ranked 27th, Divya Nag oversees Apple’s ambitious ResearchKit and CareKit programmes that encourage developers to build health-related apps. A Stanford dropout, Nag founded her research startup and began a medical investment accelerator at the age of 23.
Ranked 38 on the list, 31-year-old Rishi Shah and 32-year-old Shradha Agarwal are the founders of health-tech firm Outcome Health. Their company raised over $500 million at a valuation of more than $5 billion.
Ranked 40th on the list, 31-year-old Leila Janah is the founder of non-profit Samasource. Daughter of Indian immigrants who moved to the US, Janaj also founded a skincare line that employs women in Uganda.
Leo Varadkar, the 38-year-old Prime Minister of Ireland has been ranked fifth on the list. His father was born in India. A former doctor, Varadkar is Ireland’s youngest leader in centuries. He also the first-ever openly gay leader.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is second on the list, followed by Airbnb CEO and co-founders Brian Chesky, Nathan Blecharczyk.
