There are people who inspire us by setting an example with their hard work even if things are not in their favour. Same is the story of a 17-year-old Aanchal Raut, who doesn’t have both hands since birth but that did not deter her from achieving success. Aanchal, who hails from Gadchiroli, a Naxal affected area took the HSC exam and gave the test by writing the answers from her legs. She gave the exams on her own even when the board allows to use the service of a writer. Aanchal, who is from science stream, scored 63% in the exams and aspires to become an IAS officer.
The principal of Vidya Bharti Mahavidyalaya, where Aanchal is studying, Rajabhau Munghate said, “Our college is a 40-minute bus ride for Aanchal, but she ensured that every morning she was present in class. When she sought admission in the college, we were worried how she’ll cope with academic and practicals since she did not have hands. But Aanchal proved everyone wrong and has become a role model for our 140-odd students.”

Talking about Aanchal, Munghate tells that Aanchal’s mother also does not have both hands since birth and her farmer has worked really hard to keep everything together.

Meanwhile, the HSC board announced its result on May 30. The total pass percentage this year is 89.50, around 2.9% more than the last year. Overall percentage scored by girls in the exam is 93.5% and the boys secured the overall percentage of 86.65%. With 91.16%, Pune registered the highest pass percentage in the results, followed by Kolhapur (91.40%).
