Head Constable Satpal Singh is no ordinary traffic cop but an Indian Army veteran and a Vir Chakra awardee. A sepoy in the 8th battalion Sikh Regiment, Singh fought against Pakistani forces on Tiger Hill during Kargil War in 1999. In the combat, he killed Captain Karnal Sher Khan of Pakistan Army’s Northern Light Infantry. After retirement from the Indian Army, he joined Punjab Police in 2010. On July 26, 2019, the 20th Kargil Diwas anniversary, he was promoted to the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector by chief minister Amarinder Singh.
