The new note of Rs 200 notes which is in bright yellow colour would be in circulation from September
A day after finance ministry notified that Rs 200 currency notes would soon be in circulation, the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) on Thursday announced that the new currency notes will enter the banking system from August 25, 2017. Reportedly, the new note of Rs 200 notes which is in bright yellow colour would be in circulation from September.
Here is how you can identify the Rs 200 currency note:
Obverse (Front)
- It has a see-through register with 200 in numeric written on it
- It has a latent image with Rs 200 written on it
- The denominational numeral २०० is written in Devnagari script
- It has a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at its centre
- The note features the words ‘RBI’, ‘भारत’, ‘India’ and ‘200’ in micro letters
- The windowed security thread on the note has the inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI. The colour of this thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted
- It has a guarantee clause, Governor’s signature with a promise clause. The RBI emblem is towards the right of the Mahatma Gandhi portrait
- On the bottom right, Rs 200 is written on the note with a Rupee Symbol (₹ 200) in colour changing ink (green to blue)
- There is an Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right side of the currency note
- It has Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (200) watermarks
- The number panel on the top left side and bottom right side of the note has numerals growing from small to big

For visually impaired
The note has Intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, raised Identification Mark H with micro-text ₹ 200. It also has four angular bleed lines with two circles in between the lines both on the right and left sides

- The year of the printing of the note is written on the left side.
- The note also has Swachh Bharat logo with its slogan.
- Rs 200 currency note features language panel.
- There is also a Motif of Sanchi Stupa.
- It has denominational numeral २०० in Devnagari Dimension.
- The dimension of the banknote is 66 mm × 146 mm.
