Garden Reach Ship Builders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) became the “first Indian shipyard” on March 30to build and deliver 100 warships. The 100th warship is a Landing Craft Utility (LCU) – L56, an amphibious vessel that can transport and deploy
battle tanks, armoured vehicles, troops & equipment. It can move at a speed of 15 knots an hour. The ship will be based at Andaman & Nicobar Naval Command. For 59 years, the Kolkata-based company has built over 780 platforms for Indian Coast Guard & Mauritius Coast Guard as well. The state-run shipyard had now tied up with IIT Kharagpur to incorporate Artificial Intelligence in future ships.
