Birders near Gurugram’s Basai wetlands have been on the lookout for a rare black-necked stork, which has caught people’s eye for an odd reason. The rare species was spotted by birder Manoj Nair on June 7 in Gurugram’s Basai wetlands, however, it had a plastic bottle cap wrapped around its beak, keeping it from parting. Fearing that the bird would perish from struggling to ingest food or water, birders and forest officials launched a search operation. While the bird was spotted three days later by two birders near Delhi’s Najafgarh jheel, it remains to be rescued.
