With the number of creeps hanging around of online dating apps, Tinder will soon introduce a new feature for Indian women. The dating app will launch the India-exclusive feature — called ‘My Move’ — which will provide women with an extra layer of protection (no pun intended) before men start talking to them.
Through ‘My Move’, women will be able to choose to seize control of starting a conversation with a Tinder match. Basically, even after you are matched on the app, only a woman, who is using the feature, can start the conversation with a male match.

At the moment, both parties have equal control over starting a conversation after they have swiped right on each other.

Although, Bumble users might not be too surprised by the feature. Bumble, which is one of Tinder’s biggest rivals, already enables only women to start conversations.
Speaking to Reuters, general manager for Tinder owner Match Group (MTCH.O) in India, Taru Kapoor, said that the feature was introduced to attract more women to the app by making them feel more secure. “We’re a platform based on mutual respect, consent, and choice,” Kapoor said. “We are focused on making the experience of women safer.”

Earlier this year, India was named the most dangerous country for women to live in the world. However, India still remains to be Tinder’s largest market in India, and its “chattiest” market globally. According to market data and analytics firm App Annie, Tinder, which has an average 3.8 million users across the world, recorded the highest number of monthly active users on Android phones in India last month in the Lifestyle category.
Reportedly, Tinder has been testing ‘My Move’ for months, and if it’s proven to be successful in India, it will roll out the feature worldwide.
