To give BJP a fight, actor turned politician Ramya takes charge of Congress social media cell

She has replaced Deepender Hooda as the social media head of the party

Two weeks after 25 CRPF personnel were killed by the Maoists at Sukma in Chhattisgarh, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on May 8 unveiled the new strategy to deal with Naxalism in the country and launched SAMADHAN. The meeting which was chaired by Home Minster emphasised on the security strategy and development works in the affected districts.

Soon after its launch, Congress on its official twitter account took a dig at SAMADHAAN. According to @INCIndia the meaning of SAMADHAN is: S stood for Sukma violence, A for armed forces martyred,
M for Modi taking selfies, A clueless government, Distracted, Hopeless, Arrogant BJP, No help given to soldiers.

This attack on the government caught the attention of netizens as Congress’ social media performance has always been quite dull. According to the sources, the person responsible for changing party’s image on social media is Kannada actor turned politician Ramya. She has taken the place of Deepender Hooda as the social media head of Congress and goes by the handle @divyaspandana. Her appointment has come at a time when her home state Karnataka is heading to polls next year.

According to a report in News 18, a senior Congress leader said,  “We have a bright young team, but the leadership was lackadaisical. These days, wars are fought on social media primarily, rather than through ballots”.

One of the members of social media team of Congress said “We don’t want to stoop to the level of the ‘bhakts’. But, there are things that need to be done in a certain way on social media either you are aggressive or you are not part of the conversation”.
