ISRO creates world record by launching 104 satellites
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday created a world record by launching 104 satellites in a single flight of PSLVC37 from the Sriharikota rocket port in Andhra Pradesh. The rocket was blasted off at 9.28 am on Wednesday with major cargo being the 714 kg Indian Cartosat-2 series satellite.
The countdown for the launch of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)’s 39th flight began on Tuesday after it got an approval from the Mission Readiness Review committee and Launch Authorisation Board for the lift off. Read Here
Sasikala likely to surrender in court
With the Supreme Court convicting AIADMK General Secretary V.K. Sasikala in the disproportionate assets case, her dream to become next chief minister of Tamil Nadu has come crashing down. She is likey to surrender before Bengaluru trail court today. The court has quashed the Karnataka High Court order acquitting Sasikala and two other accused in the case.
Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi explains the possible options and the outcomes under the current political turmoil in the state. He said, “Governor now can either have composite floor test between heads of 2 rival groups and decide who’ll be CM or if he finds that one group has overbuilt more majority, he can also swear in that person and ask him to prove his majority on the floor of the house.” Read Here
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 Phase 2 Polling
After witnessing a 63 per cent voter turnout in Phase 1 of Uttar Pradesh Elections, polling for the second phase will be held in 67 constituencies spread over 11 districts on February 15. Over 2.28 crore voters will exercise their franchise during the second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh today.
Out of 2.28 crore voters, 1.23 crore are males. A total of 720 candidates are in the fray. The 11 districts include Rampur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Sambhal, Bijnor, Bareilly, Amroha, Pilibhit, Kheri, Shahjahanpur and Badaun. Read Here
Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2017 Phase 2 Polling
Uttarakhand is on February 15 voting in 69 Assembly seats for the high-pitched battle being fought mainly between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. 628 candidates are in the fray in 69 of the total 70 assembly constituencies spread over 13 districts in the hill state. Nearly 74.20 lakh voters will be exercising their franchise on Wednesday. Read Here
