Furious over PM Modi’s ‘raincoat’ remark, Congress demands suspension of Parliament proceedings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘raincoat’ remark over Dr. Manmohan Singh in Rajya Sabha has turned the opposition furious enough to create the ruckus in the house. The Congress Party has demanded the suspension of proceedings in both houses of Parliament while other parties in opposition have also extended their support to this demand.  Meanwhile, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had demanded that PM Modi should apologise for his ‘ugly remark’ against Manmohan Singh. Punjab Assembly elections 2017: Repolling underway in 5 districts

Following the Election Commission’s (EC) directions given, repolling has been conducted in 48 polling stations across five districts in Punjab state on February 9. The five districts are – Amritsar, Moga, Muktsar, Mansa and Sangrur. The Punjab government has also declared a holiday in these 5 districts. All offices, boards, corporations, educational institutes and public undertakings of the state government in these five districts will remain closed. Sania Mirza summoned by service tax dept for tax evasion

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has been summoned by the Service Tax Department for the failure of payment or evasion of Service Tax. The notice has been issued by the Principal Commissioner of Service Tax office on February 6 which asked Sania to appear before it in person or by an authorised agent on February 16. As reported by PTI, the notice says “Whereas an investigation against you about non-payment/evasion of Service Tax/contravention of provisions of Finance Act 1994 and Rules made thereunder is being inquired.
