Delhi Police received severe criticism for their comment about the woman who helped the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) to bust an illicit liquor racket in outer Delhi’s Narela area on Thursday, December 7.
The Delhi Police, in response to a tweet by the DCW Chief Swati Maliwal strongly condemning the attack and questioning the law and order situation in the national capital, said that the incident was a ‘quarrel’ between Praveena, the victim and the ladies of the JJ cluster. It also said that unlike what Maliwal mentioned, the nearest police post was about 5 Km away.
Here’s what the tweet said:
Incident referred to is reaction and quarrel by some ladies of same JJ cluster as victim. Injuries simple as per MLC. Case already registered against accused ladies. Incorrect that Police Post is 50 Mtrs away. Nearest Police Post about 5Kms away.

Soon after, Twitter exploded with comments who trashed Delhi Police for their response. Here’s what Twitterati said:
Can tell you 10-15 metres away from Police post no 10 Raghuvir nagar of PS Rajouri Garden West Delhi illegal liquor mafia, ganjha sellers, matka racket is active openly. No action taken despite all information. Let’s see if you act now!

In the National Capital of the world’s largest democracy, the Police shamelessly boasts of a police post 5 KM away from a populated colony!! Isn’t that admission a shameless shortcoming of the DP?

In any other country, the entire staff would have been dismissed on the spot. But here the shameless police is trying to count the distance as if it lessens their culpability.https://t.co/tjeDmI4STR

Do we need an organisation like Delhi Police at all. The department should be locked and Delhi would be much safer. The real goons are within the department. Wardiwale gunde. They are actually DELHI ROOKIES.

@DelhiPolice Stop giving weird explanations. Arrest the culprits who have looted the dignity of a lady. They should be behind bars as soon as possible.
