The Agra police on October 27 arrested two men and apprehended three minors for being allegedly involved in the attack on Swiss couple, Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droz, in Fatehpur Sikri. The attack took place on October 22 when the couple was walking alongside a train track near the Fatehpur Sikri complex. The youngsters allegedly first approached the couple to click selfies with Marie after which started harassing and thrashing the couple when they refused. Droz suffered a fracture in her arm while Quentin sustained injuries on the skull and ear and is kept under observation.
Additional Superintendent of police, Agra, Akhilesh Narain Singh told The Indian Express that the accused were arrested from the UP-Rajasthan border in Fatehpur Sikri. He also said that those arrested did not reveal the reason behind the attack.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the attack and said the government was monitoring the progress of the case.

Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons wrote to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 26 expressing his concern and emphasising that such incidents negatively affected the image of the country.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav suggested that the attack was the result of having anti-romeo squads. He also said that there was an ‘unprecedented rise in cases of crime and loot in the state’.
